On this tour you will travel via kayak as you discover a part of the Bothnian Sea National Park and its stunning scenery with its rocky coastline, sandy beaches, river deltas and islands that are legacies of the post-glacial uplift of land. This is an island hopping tour offering numerous opportunities to discover the fauna and flora of the west coast of Finland. Experience the Finnish summer as you camp in the wilderness. You can also look forward to lazy moments spent in an authentic Finnish sauna or to cool off in the Baltic Sea. You will travel as part of an international group led by an experienced tour guide. This kayaking tour is suitable for nature lovers and those who enjoy active holidays as well as those who are interested in undertaking a tour offering unique experiences and who are already familiar with kayaking.
Day 1: Arrival: Make your way to Pori and to your accommodation of your own choice. Depending on the time of your arrival you may opt to do last minute shopping and familiarise yourself with this beautiful coastal city before the actual tour begins.
Day 2: Reposaari to Tynnyrikari Distance: 14 km After breakfast at the hotel, we will assemble at our meeting point and purchase the food needed and proceed to our point of departure Reposaari, load the kayaks, get the safety briefing and enjoy lunch. After lunch we finally paddle out. We’ll kayak to Tynnyrikari, the first island on your tour itinerary. We will make our camp at the island and cook dinner over an open fire. There will be time for hiking and fishing on this beautiful island in the National Park. Tynnyrikari is the base camp for the local boating association and offers guests the option of experiencing a traditional Finnish sauna, as well as swimming.
Day 3: Tynnyrikari to Reveli Distance: 13 km From the island of Tynnyrikari we’ll paddle due south to the island of Yrjönkari where you will have lunch. After lunch you will proceed due north to the island of Reveli where you will set up your tent for the night. Reveli is excellent for birdwatching. With spending the first few days of your tour in the river delta region of Kokemäenjoki you can experience and enjoy varied scenery with different kinds of fauna and flora that bear witness to the post-glacial uplift of the coastline, the effects of which are still being felt..
Day 4: Reveli to Ouraluoto Distance: 13 km We continue on our safari after breakfast. We’ll head north to the rocky islands of Masperi or Pitkäkari where we’ll have lunch. After lunch we paddle on to the island of Kaddi, an old fishing island. A fisherman goes about his work here even today. From Kaddi we continue kayaking to the island of Ouraluoto, where we will camp for the night. An old pilot station is located here and you will have the opportunity to enjoy a sauna as well as a swim.
Day 5: Ouraluoto to Hajula Distance: 10 km From Ouraluoto we’ll paddle to the island of Juhela. On the way there we pass several lovely islands enjoying the scenery on the way. Today we will have lunch on the island of Hamskeri or Hajula where you will also pitch your tent. In the evening you can look forward to a barbecue and a sauna.
Day 6: Hajula to Merikarvia Distance: 10 km The last day of our tour will once again go past some beautiful islands. You will have lunch on a lovely outlying island before once again proceeding towards the mainland. After five eventful days your tour will come to an end and we reach Merikarvia at around 5 pm. Please make your own onward arrangements. Merikarvia is situated about 50 km from Pori.
Your accommodation: During this kayaking tour your nights will be spent in your own tent on various islands. It is therefore recommended that you bring your own tent with you as well as other camping accessories.
Food: All meals are included - almost all lunches and dinners will be cooked over an open fire by the group using fresh, local, wild food, such as mushrooms and berries, and fish that we catch. Your guide is specialist in gathering food from the wilds: herbs, berries, mushrooms and fishing.
Tour duration: 6 days / 5 nights, covering a distance of some 60 km (between 10 km and 14 km every day)
For this tour, you require prior kayaking experience. There are no rapids, but there may be swell, depending on weather and wind conditions

Getting there: This kayaking tour starts at Pori and ends in Merikarvia. In the summer you can fly to Pori via Stockholm with NextJet. Alternatively you can also fly to Helsinki, Tampere or Turku and from there proceed to Pori by train or bus. Tampere can be reached by taking a Finnair flight via Helsinki and as well as a SAS flight to Turku via Stockholm or alternatively a Finnair flight to Turku via Helsinki.
