A remote guided one-week autumn hike on the scenery of the largest and northernmost national park in Finland. Full board, accommodation on tour by camping, and in a genuine Finnish log-cabin at the first and final day of the tour. Organisable from late August until early October.

Description:
The hike will take you well beyond the borders of modern civilization in the Lemmenjoki National Park, giving you geological knowledge about the previous ice age, information about the world's oldest bedrock and have a unique viewpoint to the European gold rush history's second peak at 1946.

The hike takes you through the natural beauty of Lappish wilderness including boreal forest, beautiful fells and waterfalls which are amongst the most beautiful in Lapland, almost borderless landscapes, and this all happens at the time of the year when the ground is coloured by the magnificent autumn colours and it is dark enough to see the northern lights with a bit of luck. At the end of the hike there is a boat ride that enables you to see the beauty of the Lemmenjoki also from the water side.

In the beginning and in the end of the tour you get to stay in a cosy log cabin in the camping area operated by the local Sami family, who are happy to teach you about the cultural history of Sami people and reindeer herding. You also have the opportunity to pet the reindeers walking in the yard. All the required gear (i.e. top of the line backpack, shelter, sleeping bag etc.) excluding clothes will be handed out to you prior to the trip, but remember that it is a joint venture and everybody is expected to contribute in carrying his/her share.
